PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) once again reaffirms its commitment to sustainable social development through the provision of inclusive learning facilities for children with special needs.
Through Mosaik Kopi, Rekind opens a space for improvisation and hands-on practice for students of Sekolah Insan Anugerah, particularly children with Down syndrome and autism, to develop a barista education program.
This program is designed as a comprehensive learning platform that not only focuses on coffee-making and service skills, but also emphasizes the development of motor skills, cognitive abilities, speech, social interaction, and self-confidence among the participants.
By applying a hands-on approach in a real working environment, children are encouraged to learn gradually according to their individual abilities.
Rekind Corporate Secretary, Budi Adi Nugroho, stated that the establishment of Mosaik Kopi is part of the company’s efforts to create an inclusive social impact. “Rekind believes that every individual has the potential to grow when given the right space and opportunities. Mosaik Kopi is not merely a facility, but a learning and empowerment platform for children with special needs so that they are better prepared to face the world of work,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fransiskus Satriawan, one of the educators from Sekolah Insan Anugerah who is directly involved in the barista program, explained that the training carries a much broader meaning than merely mastering technical skills. “Barista training for children with special needs is not only about skills, but also about their self-improvement—such as developing motor and cognitive abilities, speech, social interaction, and self-confidence. All of these aspects are trained gradually,” Frans explained.
For him, Rekind’s support is highly significant for the sustainability of the program. “We are very grateful to Rekind as the provider of the facilities. After training, the students certainly need opportunities for further improvement, internships, and even employment. We are very pleased to see that two new students are gradually being introduced to work here. The facilities provided by Rekind are excellent and can be well integrated with the children’s development, especially in supporting their social interaction and self-confidence. They are very happy to be able to do something meaningful,” he added.
Mosaik Kopi is a contemporary coffee outlet located at Rekind’s Head Office Complex in Kalibata, South Jakarta, where services are directly handled by extraordinary students from Sekolah Insan Anugerah, a special school for children with special needs.
Through this collaboration, Rekind hopes that Mosaik Kopi can serve as a best practice in supporting inclusive education, while also opening up opportunities for a more independent future for children with special needs.
