PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) held education in the form of training, fire prevention and handling for residents of Kalibata, South Jakarta. The training was held on Saturday (5/8) at ROB 2 Building, Rekind Head Office in collaboration with the South Jakarta Fire Department. There were around 70 participants who took part in this certified training, consisting of RT Heads in the RW 08 Kalibata Subdistrict area, Karang Taruna Management, the PKK Mobilization Team, members of the Kelurahan Musyawarah Institution (LMK) and representatives of mass organizations. Directly present at the VP Comdev & TJSL Rekind activities – Herman Susatyo, Dwi Pudyasmoro – VP CSV PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), Acting Head of Kalibata Village, Hifzilah, Edy Sunarto and Rolly as speakers as well as the Kalibata Village Fire Brigade Task Force.

“This training is a form of Rekind’s manifestation of establishing strong synergy with the community, especially in the areas closest to our operational activities. Moreover, the Kalibata area is the closest area to us and is known to be densely populated, with the threat of fire. If you do not take appropriate measures to prevent fires, it can result in loss of life. “This is what we must anticipate, as well as being the background for this activity,” said Edy Sutrisman, SVP Corporate Secretary & Legal Rekind in a separate place.

Moreover, in the community there is still very little awareness of the importance of fire prevention and early response to the dangers of fire. So, fire disasters are inevitable and their impact results in many losses. “Anticipating the occurrence of fires requires role, understanding and cooperation between the community and the company,” said Herman Susatyo.

According to him, many factors can accelerate the occurrence of a fire. These factors are sometimes less of a concern for most people, even though fire prevention efforts are easier and cheaper than efforts to control them. For this reason, in this training fire prevention efforts are prioritized.

“This training effort is very good. This training prioritizes efforts to prevent fires. “When fire prevention efforts can be prioritized, there is no need to carry out mitigation efforts,” said Hifzilah.

It is hoped that people who take part in the training, when they are in the area and know the beginning of the fire, will be more active in taking action before the firefighters arrive at the scene. Early prevention can minimize the occurrence of greater losses.

Apart from providing training and fire prevention provisions, through support from PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) as the holding company, Rekind also aided with light fire extinguishers (APAR) specifically for Kalibata Village, each RT in RW 08 and a number of mass organizations.
