Soon, JTB Will be Ready to Produce Clean Gas

Through professionalism, reliability and capability, PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) has brought back the Jambaran Tiung Biru (JTB) National Strategic Gas Processing Facility (GPF) project at the next strategic stage, which is ready to produce clean gas through the Pre commissioning & Commissioning stage.
This stage is marked by the flow of unused residual or excess gas through a flare (a safe gas disposal device by means of combustion) or commonly called the Flaring Gas Process.
“The Flaring process is an illustration of the initial stages for the Jambaran Tiung Biru Project to be ready to produce clean gas. In the future, we just have to fulfill a few set points. Hopefully it can be on stream according to the planned time. What is clear is that all of us here continue to synergize and try our best so that this national strategic project can function in accordance with the goals and expectations of the nation,” explained Budi Prianto, Project Manager (PM) of GPF-JTB.
Flaring Gas Processing is a series of the Gas Buyback event held by Rekind on September 30, 2021.
The definition of Buyback Gas in the milestone of achieving this stage is to take clean gas purchased from PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) in a very small amount capacity, to then flow it as a starting power boiler and Gas Turbine Generator (GTG).
Boiler is a device for converting water into steam through heating, where the water vapor can be adjusted how strong the pressure is so that it can be used as heating or motion power. Meanwhile, the Gas Turbine Generator (GTG) is a generator engine in which the turbine/engine spinner is driven by clean gas purchased from PGN.
If the gas flow is able to drive the boiler and GTG, this gas is used as power to drive large motors, one of which supports the chemical cleaning process. This process is part of the focus of its activities on cleaning the towers, namely the Absorber and Selexol Regenerator. “All the towers must be cleaned with chemicals whose driving motors are supplied with electricity from GTG,” said Gito Waluyo, Deputy Project Manager of GPF-JTB.
Prior to Chemical Cleaning, the steam generated from the Boiler is used to clean the steam piping system that uses pressurized steam through steam blowing. After cleaning, it will flow as a heater in the reboiler which will support chemical cleaning. And GTG will be used to supply power during chemical cleaning.
If all the chemical cleaning processes have been completed, it means that the JTB GPF is ready to operate, especially after all the pipes have been cleaned using flushing and blowing, all equipment and instrumentation have been tested, and other pre commissioning activities have been carried out.
