PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) which is a member of the Joint Operation (JO) at the Balikpapan RDMP Project, East Kalimantan, carried out a trial of First Crude Oil Filling into Tank D-320-12 Refinery Unit V.
The activity carried out on Wednesday (4/8) was the commissioning stage of the EPCC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning) Tank D-320-12 Refinery Unit V Project process. Project work was carried out by the JO RDMP Early Work Feed Team, involving 150 experts and professionals in their fields. This step is an effort to accelerate the work on this national strategic project which is targeted to be completed in 2023.
This acceleration step is in line with the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to accelerate the implementation of the Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Project. The Balikpapan RDMP is expected to be able to increase the processing of crude oil from the previous 260 thousand barrels per day to 360 thousand barrels per day, as well as improve the quality of the products produced equivalent to EURO V. Even so, it does not mean that the work on this project ignores the Covid 19 prevention procedures. All workers on the project have gone through a very selective stage and continue to prioritize health protocols.

Crude oil filling is the initial flow in the oil processing process. Filling crude oil into the storage unit tank D-320-12 which is carried out to store oil before it is processed according to a certain capacity requirement. In this commissioning stage, starting from the filling system, the process and flow of crude oil distribution through the pipeline becomes an important concern. This is because the commissioning phase is very decisive and influential in the next stage of the process, especially for the production and completion phase of the D-320-02A/B Tank.
