The Signing Ceremony of the EPCC Contract for the Total Kamojang Geothermal 1×35 MW Project

Thank Godwe pray gratitude to Allah SWT for His grace in the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan that Rekind signed the documents of EPCC Contract for Total Geothermal Kamojang 1×35 MW Project, which took place on Friday, August 2nd, 2013, at the office of Pertamina Geothermal Energi (PGE), Jakarta. The contract documents were signed by Mr. Adriansyah, the Director of PGE, and Mr. M. Ali Suharsono, the Managing Director of Rekind, and Mr. Matsunoki, the representative of Sumitomo Corporation. Also attending the ceremony were Mr. Alex Dharma Balen (the First Operations Director of Rekind), Mr. Eddy Herman Harun (the Second Operations Director of Rekind) and other invited guests.

The Unit V of Kamojang Project, located in Garut, is owned by PGE and will be completed within a period of 23 months by the Consortium of Rekind and Sumitomo. The entire scope of EPCC work (construction work and most of the major mechanical-electrical equipment and the entire utility systems of the Power Plant) will be carried out by Rekind on the FCRS (Fluid Collection and Reinjection System) area. Sumitomo’s scope of work includes the provision of a Steam Turbine Generator (STG) and most of the major Mechanical, Control and Instrument equipment. While the scope of work for the Power Plant will be performed by Rekind along with Sumitomo. The purpose of the construction of this project is to support the government program in constructing power plants using the New and Renewable Energy in order to increase the supply of electricity for the currently increasing industrial and residential needs. In addition, the output of this project can save the use of the increasingly scarce and expensive fossil fuel, with an estimated cost savings of fossil fuel use of 1.6 billion USD, not including the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism)/results of Carbon Credit transactions. Another advantage of geothermal energy is that it is an environmentally friendly resource the use of which in power plants does not cause pollution while conserving the environment.

Rekind’s achievements, with its direct, active involvement in the development of geothermal power station, should be proud of since it has successfully constructed 11 geothermal power plants with a total capacity of 647 MW in the past 10 years. Congratulations to Mr. Abdul Latif who will lead the team as the Project Manager for the Kamojang 1×35 MW Project. Hopefully, PGE along with the Consortium of Rekind and Sumitomo can cooperate well as expected, smoothly and on time.
