Tuesday, February 10, 2026, marked a moment of pride for Agus Suryono. A security member of PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind), Agus received a special commendation from Rekind’s President Director, Triyani Utaminingsih, for his swift action in preventing a potential fire. The award, presented in conjunction with National K3 (HSE) Month, was held at the ROB I Building, Rekind Complex, East Kalibata, South Jakarta, witnessed by the company’s management and leadership.
The award was a tribute to Agus’s prompt response during his shift on January 21, 2026. While patrolling the ROB I Building, Agus received a report from the Security Coordinator, Rusdiyono, regarding a strong smell of smoke on the 4th and 5th floors. Following the Coordinator’s orders, he immediately swept the area and located the source of the smoke at the West Exit on the 5th floor.
The smoke was found to be coming from a smoldering piece of MDF wood beneath a staircase handrail. Without hesitation, Agus grabbed a fire extinguisher and suppressed the source, assisted by his colleagues. Thanks to this rapid response, the fire hazard was contained before it could escalate into a blaze that would threaten lives.
CCTV footage revealed that the incident was triggered by smoking outside of designated areas. Such negligence is strictly prohibited. This event serves as a critical reminder for all employees to remain vigilant and disciplined, particularly in adhering to the rules regarding smoking zones.
